Sebastian Burduja, the leader of PNL Bucharest, stated that it would have been ideal for the entire coalition to have a common denominator and a single candidate for the Capital City Hall, in order to maintain the stability of the government. He emphasized that primary elections are a normal practice in mature democracies, such as the USA and France, and that the best candidate should win.

Burduja mentioned that the interim mayor Stelian Bujduvianu and Ciprian Ciucu, the mayor of Sector 6, have notable achievements, but he acknowledged the risk that the entry of PNL and USR candidates into the race could favor the PSD candidate. He relies on the reasoning of right-wing voters in Bucharest, hoping that a liberal candidate will have the first chance at the General City Hall. Burduja concluded that internal discussions will lead to the best decision for the party.
