Marian Motocu, a legionary sympathizer, was sentenced by the Craiova Court to one year of suspended imprisonment for incitement to hatred and promoting antisemitic ideas through social media.
The court established that Motocu published 29 videos in which he incited violence against Jews and promoted legionary doctrines, denying the Holocaust. The judges emphasized the seriousness of his actions, considering that the messages conveyed created a hostile atmosphere and violated the rights of minorities. Motocu was found guilty of several offenses, including the use of fascist symbols. Additionally, the court prohibited the use of social media and holding public office for two years.
His connections with Călin Georgescu, a former presidential candidate, were mentioned in the context of a far-right organization aimed at coalescing an extremist core. Prosecutors claim that the relationship between Călin Georgescu and Marian Motocu supports the allegations of legionary propaganda, citing messages, joint appearances, and Motocu's connections with extremist groups and individuals close to Russian diplomats. Investigators believe that these connections reflect ultranationalist orientations and sympathy for the legionary ideology attributed to Georgescu.
