The trial of Călin Georgescu, former presidential candidate, was postponed on Wednesday at the Sector 1 Court, after the initially assigned judge reportedly transferred to the Bucharest Tribunal, according to Antena 3 CNN sources.
Georgescu's lawyer also requested a postponement, citing his absence from the country.
Călin Georgescu is being tried for promoting the cult of individuals guilty of genocide and war crimes, as well as for fascist and legionary ideas, during the period 2020-2025. He is accused of glorifying historical figures such as Ion Antonescu and promoting ultra-nationalist ideas, including through public speeches. The indictment has been sent to the Sector 1 Court, which will adjudicate the case on its merits.
