A 35-year-old man from the commune of Independența, Galați County, was detained for 24 hours on September 9, 2026, after allegedly posting racist, xenophobic and antisemitic messages and images on a social media platform. Police are investigating him for incitement to violence, hatred or discrimination; promoting the cult of individuals guilty of genocide and war crimes; using fascist symbols; and denying or approving the Holocaust.
According to investigators, between June 19 and 20, 2025, the man allegedly distributed materials expressing ideas of annihilation, inferiority and dehumanization of individuals based on nationality, ethnicity or religion. The posts allegedly included an image of a nuclear explosion accompanied by the message “NUKE THEM ALL” and references to several states and populations.
Investigators claim that he allegedly praised the Nazi regime, conveyed antisemitic messages, published a photograph of himself performing the Nazi salute and approved of the effects of the Holocaust. The man was held at the Galați Detention and Preventive Arrest Center. On September 10, he was due to be brought before the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Liești District Court, with a proposal to impose a preventive measure. The investigation continues under the coordination of prosecutors.
