A 39-year-old man from Suceava County was detained after allegedly stabbing his mother in the neck on Saturday in the village of Petia, Bunești commune. The woman fled the home and hid in a cornfield, from where she called the 112 emergency number. Initial investigation findings indicate that the assault took place against the backdrop of alcohol consumption.
Police found the victim bleeding heavily and provided first aid until medical crews arrived. They applied dressings and stopped the bleeding through primary hemostasis, using the first-aid kit. The woman was taken to hospital for medical care.
The suspect was identified near the home. According to police, he became aggressive during the intervention and was restrained and handcuffed. The conflict allegedly broke out after the man had consumed alcohol, after which he allegedly took a kitchen knife from the table and attacked his mother.
The case is being investigated by the Criminal Investigations Service of the Suceava County Police Inspectorate, under the coordination of the prosecutor specializing in homicide cases from the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Suceava Tribunal. The man is accused of domestic violence in connection with attempted murder. On Sunday, he is due to appear before the court, with prosecutors seeking pretrial detention.
