Man from Bucharest remanded in custody after allegedly tying up and assaulting his partner

A 41-year-old man from Bucharest was placed in pretrial detention for 30 days after allegedly tying his partner’s hands and feet and assaulting her in their home in Sector 5. The incident allegedly took place on the night of September 24–25, 2026, against the backdrop of jealousy.

According to the Bucharest Police, the woman was allegedly struck in the head with the blunt side of an axe and its handle, as well as with fists and feet all over her body. While she was restrained, the man allegedly threatened to kill her.

The victim managed to leave the home and, with the help of two citizens, reached Police Station 19, where she reported what had happened. The police immediately began their checks and took her to hospital for medical care. The woman suffered injuries requiring 40–45 days of medical care.

The attacker was apprehended shortly afterward and detained for 24 hours. After the evidence was gathered, he was brought before the court, which ordered his pretrial detention for domestic violence and unlawful deprivation of liberty.
