A man from Galați, arrested after allegedly killing his wife with a knife

A man from the commune of Smulți, Galați County, has been placed in preventive custody for 30 days after allegedly killing his wife in the family home on Saturday evening. According to prosecutors, during an argument, he allegedly stabbed the woman in the left side of the chest, an injury that led to her death.

The couple were raising their four children in the same home: two daughters aged 27 and 25, as well as a 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy. The tragedy has shocked the community, where locals claim that the woman had previously been the victim of acts of violence.

According to their accounts, she had reportedly been seen repeatedly with bruises and marks from blows. About three years ago, relatives allegedly notified the town hall and social assistance services. However, the woman reportedly did not acknowledge the abuse and defended her husband.

The Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Galați Court of Appeal has opened a criminal case for the murder of a family member. The man was detained, and on Monday, a judge ordered his preventive arrest for 30 days.
