A 58-year-old man from Dumbrava Roșie commune, Neamț County, was detained for 24 hours after allegedly stabbing his wife in the leg during a conflict reportedly fueled by alcohol consumption. The 57-year-old woman died of hemorrhagic shock.
The incident allegedly took place on September 29, at around 6 p.m., in the couple’s home. According to investigators, the man allegedly took a knife and struck his wife in the left leg. The injury allegedly caused severe bleeding, and the woman died shortly afterward.
After the assault, the suspect allegedly hid the knife and attempted to wipe away traces of the crime. At around 8 p.m., he allegedly called 112 and reported that his wife had died at home, claiming that she had been injured in an accident. The medical crew that arrived at the address confirmed her death.
Later, the man allegedly went to his daughter’s home in Piatra-Neamț. Police located him on September 30, at around 2:10 p.m., and took him in for questioning. The criminal prosecutor ordered that he be detained for 24 hours. Investigations are continuing into the offense of assault or bodily injury resulting in death.
