Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu stated on Monday, after the meeting with USR, that negotiations to form the new Government had made progress compared with last week and that there are parties willing to support the Executive.
“There are parties saying they will vote for this government. And the discussions continue,” Luca Niculescu stated on Monday, as he left the meeting with USR representatives.
Niculescu emphasized that Romania needs a government capable of implementing reforms and ensuring economic stability, identifying as urgent priorities the budget revision, increasing revenue collection, reforming state-owned companies, and adopting the budget for 2027.
He warned that investors need predictability and advocated attracting investment, amid its decline this year.
Regarding the negotiations, the designated prime minister also mentioned the possibility of a political support agreement for at least six months, intended to adopt the priority measures. Niculescu hopes to finalize the discussions by Thursday, October 15, when he intends to present the governing program and the list of ministers.
The designated prime minister is continuing consultations with the parties today, after holding consultations with PSD, PNL, and UDMR last week.
Monday’s schedule of meetings with the parties:
12:00 - The Save Romania Union Party (USR)
14:00 - Parliamentary Group of National Minorities
16:00 - PACE - First Romania Parliamentary Group
17:00 - United for Romania Parliamentary Group (UPR)
