Designated Prime Minister Luca Niculescu has scheduled new consultations with representatives of the parliamentary parties on Monday, as part of the effort to form the future Government. He will meet at 12:00 with USR leaders at the party headquarters, at 14:00 with representatives of the Parliamentary Group of National Minorities at the Palace of Parliament, and at 16:00 with the leaders of the PACE – First Romania Group at the Senate.
Niculescu has already held talks with the leaderships of PSD, PNL, and UDMR. The designated prime minister intends to submit the government program and the list of Cabinet ministers to Parliament on Thursday. He stated that he would propose a competent Executive and that relaxation measures, if adopted, must not affect Romania’s international commitments.
PSD called for the formation of an assumed and transparent majority, while Sorin Grindeanu warned that the party could reject the initiative if there is no clear project for the economy and no commitment from the other formations. PNL announced that it would not govern alongside PSD, but is willing to grant an “installation vote.” UDMR also supports the investiture of a government, even if it will not be part of it.
