The German retailer Lidl has announced the expansion of the Scan & Go functionality in all stores in Bucharest and Ilfov County, starting from May 28, as part of its strategy to digitize the shopping experience. The service, available through the Lidl Plus app, allows customers to scan products with their mobile phones as they select them from the shelf, automatically adding them to a virtual cart. This way, customers can avoid individual scanning at the checkout, completing payment at self-service checkouts. The stores are equipped with smart scales for bulk products, which emit labels that can be scanned in the app. Users must activate the 'Scan & Go' option in the app and register in-store. After completing their shopping, the products are automatically transferred to the total amount due. Lidl continues to invest in integrated digital services, aiming to simplify the shopping process and provide better control over the budget. The functionality is already available in other stores across the country, with the complete list published on the company's website.
