The Minister of Development, Cseke Attila, announced a new draft law under discussion in the Chamber of Deputies, which stipulates that rural property owners can build single-family houses up to 150 square meters and agricultural annexes without obtaining a building permit, but only by notifying the local council. This measure is part of a broader reform of the Urban Planning Code, aimed at reducing bureaucracy. For smaller constructions, such as garden sheds or garages up to 20 square meters, a technical project will be required, but the process will be simplified, without a permit. The local council will have 15 days to assess the need for a permit, and if there is no response, work can begin. It is important to mention that these regulations apply only to personal use residences, without a floor and without commercial purpose. The project has the potential to significantly transform constructions in rural areas of Romania, facilitating access to housing for local communities.
