The Intelligent Energy Association (AEI) has announced that the price of gasoline could decrease between 7.90–8.20 lei/liter, while that of diesel could range between 8.40–8.80 lei/liter until the end of July, provided no new geopolitical tensions or tax changes arise.
The easing of relations between the United States and Iran has reduced the risks of supply disruptions from the Middle East, leading to a decrease in international prices. However, AEI warns that this favorable period may be short-lived, as the release of oil from strategic reserves will end in about a month, and demand may increase. Additionally, tax increases and the distributors' trade policies have delayed the transmission of the price decrease to consumers.
Thus, although a temporary price drop is estimated, pressure on prices could re-emerge in the fall, with direct effects on fuel costs.
AEI emphasizes that the current surplus in supply could quickly be replaced by an increase in global demand, which could lead to a new rise in prices.
