The Intelligent Energy Association (AEI) warns that diesel could exceed 10 lei/liter if tensions in the Gulf escalate.

The oil market is facing major challenges, and international oil prices remain stable around 84-86 dollars/barrel. However, strategic reserves are now lower, and the Strait of Hormuz remains a vulnerable point for global energy trade. AEI estimates that in the next two weeks, the Brent price will fluctuate between 85 and 90 dollars/barrel, but in the event of significant disruptions, the price could rise.

In Romania, pump prices are influenced by the USD/RON exchange rate and the applied taxes. In the most likely scenario, diesel could reach 9.60-9.70 lei/liter in the coming weeks, and if tensions persist, the price could reach 10.05-10.25 lei/liter.

AEI emphasizes that a combination of rising oil prices and the dollar could lead to a significant increase in costs for consumers.
