Most petrol station networks in Romania have raised the price of standard diesel, which has reached its highest level in recent months and is nearing the threshold of 11 lei per liter. This is the first price increase applied to this type of fuel in the past month, following the five-bani reduction introduced at the beginning of October.
Standard diesel is being sold for 10.97 lei per liter at OMV, Rompetrol and MOL stations. At Petrom and Socar, the price has risen to 10.91 lei per liter, while Lukoil has temporarily kept its price at 10.92 lei. Petrol prices have remained at the level set at the end of last week.
The increase is tempered by the 25% reduction in the excise duty on diesel, which represents a saving of approximately 85 bani per liter. Without this tax measure, diesel would cost between 11.76 and 11.82 lei per liter, depending on the network.
According to market sources cited by Profit.ro, logistics costs have risen sharply amid the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Maritime transport on Mediterranean routes has become more expensive, rising from 2.5–4.5 dollars to 25 dollars per barrel, adding more than 60 bani to the price of a liter of diesel.
