Fuel prices: Gasoline has exceeded 10 lei per liter, while diesel is approaching 11 lei

The price of standard petrol surpassed the psychological threshold of 10 lei per litre on Wednesday morning, after prices had been kept at 9.99 lei for almost a week. At some stations, a litre of petrol reached 10.05 lei, a record level. At the same time, diesel is approaching the 11-lei threshold, with the difference standing at just one ban at some fuel stations.

The cheapest standard petrol is available at the Dacma station in Lungulețu commune, Dâmbovița County, where it costs 9.87 lei per litre. At the other monitored stations, prices generally range between 9.91 and 9.93 lei per litre.

Standard diesel is sold for 10.88–10.91 lei per litre in Bucharest, Timișoara, Constanța and Iași. The lowest price is recorded in Pitești, where a litre costs 10.67 lei, according to data from Peco Online. Drivers who use LPG pay approximately 4.67 lei per litre in Bucharest, 4.69 lei in Cluj-Napoca and Constanța, and 4.71 lei in Timișoara and Iași.

In the ranking of EU countries with the lowest fuel prices, Romania ranks 13th for petrol and 12th for diesel. The cheapest fuel is reported in Malta.
