A joint operation of the police from the Iași Organized Crime Combat Brigade, DIICOT prosecutors, and authorities from Moldova, the Czech Republic, and Hungary led to the dismantling of a cross-border group specialized in the production and trafficking of methamphetamine.
18 searches were carried out in Romania and other countries, resulting in the discovery and dismantling of three illegal laboratories. The criminal group, made up of Romanian and Moldovan citizens, operated in collaboration with elements from the Czech Republic, procuring precursors to transform the substances into pseudoephedrine. This was subsequently transformed into methamphetamine, which was sold in the European Union, especially in the Czech Republic and Germany.
Authorities confiscated chemical substances, equipment, and arrested 16 members of the network. One of the group members used a commercial company from Iași as a front for illegal activities.
