The leader of a Romanian criminal group, a Romanian citizen, has been identified as a High Value Target by EUROPOL, at the request of Romania, following an extensive investigation.
Authorities have seized over 1.7 tons of drugs, including cocaine, cannabis, and hashish, transported in hidden compartments of trucks. The investigation led to 16 searches in Bucharest and in the counties of Timiș, Satu Mare, Oradea, and others, targeting members of the organized criminal group that had been operating since September 2023. The group, consisting of Romanian and foreign citizens, transported large quantities of drugs from Spain to various European states.
The criminal activity was supported by a complex network, involving commercial companies as well. International cooperation was essential, with support from authorities in France, Spain, Italy, and Germany. The drug seizures had an estimated value of approximately 25 million euros.
Hearings in this case will take place at DIICOT - Central Structure.
