The Mureș Tribunal has decided to extend the preventive arrest of former priest Cristian Pomohaci by 30 days, accused of high-risk drug trafficking.
Pomohaci has been in custody since June and attempted to escape, but without success. His lawyers contested the legality of the arrest, citing irregularities in the referral documents, but their requests were denied. The tribunal confirmed the legality of the preventive arrest measure, stating that Pomohaci is being tried for the crime of drug trafficking, according to current legislation.
Additionally, the former priest is being investigated in another case for sexual assault and rape of a minor, with preventive measures requested in both cases. Pomohaci has the right to appeal to the Tg-Mureș Court of Appeal.
