Former priest Cristian Pomohaci, accused of child pornography: Prosecutors found 286 video and photo files featuring minors in sexual poses

Cristian Pomohaci, a 57-year-old former priest and singer, is accused by DIICOT prosecutors in a third child pornography case. According to investigators, he allegedly produced and distributed, through online applications, photographs and videos depicting minors in sexually explicit poses.

Following the searches, prosecutors identified 286 files stored on three mobile devices. More than 60 of them were allegedly created between July 2017 and the beginning of June 2026, and most were allegedly filmed or photographed by the defendant himself. DIICOT claims that more than 30 files were distributed dozens of times through online applications.

Investigators state that, between September 2025 and March 2026, Pomohaci allegedly received such materials from a 31-year-old accomplice. Similar files were also found on the latter’s device.

The former priest has been in pretrial detention since June, and is also being investigated in two other cases, for sexual assault and drug trafficking. He was defrocked in 2017 following allegations concerning the recruitment of minors, in a case that was subsequently closed. The allegations in the new investigation are to be verified during the judicial proceedings.
