A man from the municipality of Tulcea was detained by DIICOT Târgu Mureș prosecutors and is being investigated for repeatedly procuring and distributing pornographic materials involving minors in exchange for payment. Investigators claim that he obtained tens of thousands of euros over a period of approximately four years.
According to officers from the Târgu Mureș Brigade for Combating Organized Crime and DIICOT prosecutors, the man allegedly used online applications to procure thousands of images of children aged between 1 and 14. The materials were subsequently allegedly distributed through messaging applications, sharing platforms and file-transfer services. The most recent identified distribution dates from October 12, 2026.
To collect the money, the suspect allegedly opened accounts using other people’s identities. Following a search conducted in Tulcea, investigators seized computer systems, storage media, SIM cards and bank cards issued in the names of other people.
The man was detained on October 13, and on October 14 prosecutors asked the Mureș Tribunal to order his pre-trial detention for 30 days. He benefits from the presumption of innocence.
