Ovidiu Dragoș Argeșanu, “spiritual master,” was detained for 24 hours in a case involving rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault

Ovidiu Dragoș Argeșanu, described as a “spiritual master,” was detained on Tuesday by the Bucharest Capital Police for 24 hours in a case in which he is being investigated for rape, attempted rape and sexual assault. He is due to appear before the judges, with prosecutors seeking 30 days of pretrial detention.

The investigation is being conducted by officers from the Criminal Investigations Service of Bucharest’s Sector 4, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Sector 4 District Court. Police carried out three searches in Bucharest and Ilfov County and seized several items.

According to investigators, between 2020 and 2025, Argeșanu allegedly committed sexual acts against three people, taking advantage of the spiritual and psychological authority he allegedly exercised over them during the sessions. The acts allegedly took place at an office in Bucharest and in a property in Sibiu. Police say that, on October 3, 2022, at a hotel in Ialomița, he allegedly raped one of the victims, and in March 2024 allegedly attempted to commit a similar act.

The case was opened following an investigation by Snoop published on May 11, 2026. The journalists reported the testimonies of several women who described non-consensual touching and other sexual acts, attributed to esoteric pretexts. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect benefits from the presumption of innocence.
