A 19-year-old man was detained for 24 hours after being suspected of sexually assaulting a woman as she was leaving Tineretului metro station in Bucharest. The incident allegedly took place on September 1, at around 7:55 a.m., in the area of the escalators connecting the underground station to the sidewalk.
The woman approached officers from the Sector 4 Criminal Investigations Service and reported that the young man had allegedly lifted her dress and touched her legs without her consent. Investigators immediately began checks to identify the suspect and establish the circumstances of the incident.
During the investigation, indications emerged that the young man may have approached other women and touched them in intimate areas. The possible victims have not been identified so far, and the Bucharest Police are urging anyone who believes they have been the victim of similar acts to notify the authorities.
On Friday, September 4, the suspect was brought in for questioning under a warrant. Based on the evidence gathered, police ordered his detention, and he is to be brought before the magistrates. The case is being investigated under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Sector 4 District Court.
