A 61-year-old former school principal from Aușeu commune, Bihor County, has been sent to trial in pretrial detention for four counts of sexual assault against minors. According to prosecutors, the victims are three students aged between 13 and 14, and the acts were allegedly committed between 2024 and 2026, on the premises of educational institutions.
The indictment was drawn up on October 7, 2026, by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Bihor Tribunal. The investigation concerns four separate sexual acts that prosecutors allege took place both during classes and in the principal’s office. In two instances, the students were allegedly called to the office under the pretext of trying on sports clothing.
When determining the legal classification, investigators took into account the authority relationship between the defendant and the students, arising from his positions as a teacher and principal. The case was referred to the Aleșd District Court.
The man has been in pretrial detention since May 28. Although the Oradea District Court had decided to replace the measure with judicial supervision for 60 days, the Bihor Tribunal subsequently ordered that the detention be maintained. For the offenses charged, the law provides for prison sentences ranging from 3 to 13 years. The defendant’s guilt is to be established by the court.
