Cluj-Napoca continues to innovate in the fight against pollution, inaugurating a special wall that contributes to air purification. This wall was created by a team of street artists using a special paint that neutralizes pollutants, viruses, and bacteria in the atmosphere. The project, named URBAN SKIN, aims to transform various spaces in the city into works of art that, at the same time, contribute to reducing pollution. The wall, covering an area of 100 square meters, acts similarly to a space covered by mature trees, breaking down pollutants under the influence of sunlight. Cluj is part of a group of cities that aspire to become carbon neutral by 2030, and this wall is an important step in achieving this goal. The project involved students from the art high school and passersby, and the cost of the work is significantly higher than that of traditional paints, but the environmental benefits are considerable.
