Over 100 artists from Romania and abroad are taking part in the fifth edition of the Artown NOW Urban Art Biennial, held at the UZUC factory in Ploiești. Until September 12, the former industrial site is becoming the (CONtra)TEMPORARY Museum, a temporary museum where the creative process is the main exhibition.

The artists are working directly in the factory halls, using reclaimed materials and industrial elements for sculptures, installations, paintings, and text interventions. Participants include Spenser Little, Adriano Bohra, known as Robolito, Misha Diaconu, Liliana Maria, Giovanni Magnoli, Aurelia Bizouard, and Ciprian Apetrei. Approximately 2,600 square meters of murals are being created in this edition.

The museum can be visited until September 12, Friday through Sunday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., via the entrance at 14 Marin Brutaru Street. Guided tours take place on weekends. In parallel, artist Dumitru Gorzo is moving his studio to UZUC from September 1 to 30, as part of the itinerant project Continuous Studio #11 Republica Artelor.

The factory has a history of more than 120 years and covers 100,000 square meters. The spheres for Brussels’ Atomium were also produced at UZUC. Since 2022, the Artown NOW project has brought more than 100 murals and over 350 artistic interventions to the site. The completed works will be included in the public program of the Biennial, taking place from September 18 to October 4, 2025, unless otherwise specified in the source.
