The Art Encounters Foundation is bringing 69 works by Pablo Picasso to Timișoara for the first time, in an exhibition open to visitors from September 17, 2026, to January 17, 2027, at the new Art Encounters art center. The project is being carried out in collaboration with the Musée Picasso in Antibes and marks the inauguration of the space, modernized to museum standards.
The exhibition “Picasso en visite,” curated by Jean-Louis Andral, director of the Musée Picasso in Antibes, brings together paintings, drawings, lithographs, engravings, and ceramic works. The selection focuses on the period after the Second World War, when the artist spent much of his time in southern France and discovered ceramics.
The works come from the collection of the museum established in 1966 in the Grimaldi Castle in Antibes, after Picasso donated to the city the works he created there. The new Art Encounters center includes exhibition halls, spaces for interdisciplinary projects and educational programs, a bookstore, a café, and an urban garden. The exhibition will be accompanied by events and activities for schools, and tickets have already been purchased by visitors from Serbia and other countries.
