The Capital City Hall will inaugurate on Wednesday morning the largest network of climate shelters in Romania, consisting of 71 public institutions and 200 partner pharmacies.

These shelters provide shade, coolness, water, chairs, toilets, and first aid kits, being open throughout the year, according to the host institution's schedule. The network includes nearly 300 climate shelters, located on an interactive map available on the PMB website. The map includes information about the schedule of each shelter and tips for preventing heat stress.

PMB has announced that it invites private operators, NGOs, and other entities to join the network, and applications can be submitted to the PMB Environmental Directorate.

The shelters are classified into four categories, each having specific facilities:

- indoor shelters in administrative buildings, where there is water, first aid kits, and trained personnel;

- outdoor public spaces, with shade, vegetation, misters, and water spray systems;

- mixed spaces, both indoor and outdoor, such as museums, cultural centers, or community hubs;

- partner pharmacies, where people can find water, chairs, coolness, and medical kits.
