Bucharest City Hall announces that 95% of the construction sites for rehabilitating the district heating network have been completed, while the remaining work is expected to be finished by the end of the year. According to the local administration, the interventions will enable another 438 apartment blocks to receive hot water and heating without problems during the cold season.
PMB says that 28 kilometers of main pipeline have recently been completed. Another 37 kilometers are at an advanced stage of modernization, while 63 kilometers are still under construction, at various stages.
The program targets the rehabilitation of 212 kilometers of district heating pipelines and is financed through non-reimbursable European funds under the Large Infrastructure Operational Programme and the Sustainable Development Programme. The total investment is worth 1.76 billion lei, of which 1.3 billion lei represents non-reimbursable funding.
Separately, 11 kilometers of pipelines in the primary network, serving 66 apartment blocks, are 95% modernized using the local budget. Once the work is completed, the capital is expected to have 76 kilometers of new pipelines serving approximately 4,900 apartment blocks.
