Călin Georgescu is expected at Piața 100 in Oradea on Sunday, as part of the “Autumn of Romanian Pantries” campaign, through which he says he wants to promote domestic producers. However, the visit is taking place at a market where, according to Liviu Andrica, director of the Oradea Public Domain Administration, there are currently no local producers.

Georgescu announced on Facebook that he intends to highlight the people selling vegetables, fruit, poultry and animals at the market. The ADP director says, however, that these products are sold by economic operators without local-producer status, and that the traders are not present permanently.

Piața 100 is known mainly as a flea market and a second-hand car market, where clothes, old objects, handicrafts and decorations are sold. Andrica says he does not know why the location was chosen, but assumes that the large number of Sunday visitors may be a factor. Outside holiday periods, the market is reportedly visited by approximately 10,000 people.

Georgescu or his team have not contacted the Oradea Public Domain Administration. The regulations allow individual visits but prohibit the organization of political events. The visit is also being promoted by AUR representatives.
