Gervonta Davis, WBA champion in the lightweight category, was arrested in Miami for a domestic violence incident after authorities issued a warrant on January 15. He is accused of false imprisonment, assault, and attempted kidnapping in connection with an incident from October. The Miami police collaborated with US Marshals to locate Davis, who was arrested on Wednesday, with bail set at $16,000. According to police statements, Davis allegedly assaulted the victim using force. He is also facing a civil lawsuit filed by his ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, who accuses him of assault and seeks damages of over $50,000.
Davis was set to fight Jake Paul in an exhibition match on November 14, but it was canceled due to the lawsuit. Davis has had legal troubles in the past, including arrests for domestic violence and spent 44 days in jail in 2023 for violating the terms of a home confinement sentence.
