Ryan Garcia defeated Conor Benn in the second round, thereby defending his WBC welterweight title for the first time

Ryan Garcia successfully defended his WBC welterweight title, defeating Briton Conor Benn in the second round after just 4 minutes and 25 seconds of action. Garcia sent him to the canvas with a powerful right hand, then the referee stopped the fight after a flurry of punches, in front of 18,855 spectators.

The victory strengthens Garcia’s position in his division and could lead to showdowns with Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney. Benn, competing for a world title for the first time, was taken to hospital for observation.

In the other bouts on the card, Jai Opetaia defeated Noel Mikaelian by TKO in the ninth round, retaining his cruiserweight title; Da’Mazion Vanhouter knocked out Raphael Akpejiori in the first round, while Andres Cortes defeated Mark Magsayo on points.
