Lukoil Moldova has been given a 10-day deadline to sell its assets at Chișinău Airport, according to a decision by the Moldovan government aimed at preventing flight disruptions. This measure comes in the context where, starting November 21, the Russian company will no longer be able to refuel aircraft due to sanctions imposed by the United States. The Council for the Examination of Investments of National Security Importance made this decision, and sources close to the process mentioned that the deadline for divestment has been extended until November 17.
It is also emphasized that Lukoil-Moldova is the only supplier of aviation fuel in the country, and the government is seeking solutions to avoid flight disruptions. The company also controls a significant portion of the local fuel market, raising concerns about possible fuel shortages. In this context, the Moldovan government is facing additional challenges, considering that half of the gasoline sold on the local market comes from Lukoil.
