Siegfried Mureșan, expected at Cotroceni by Nicușor Dan with the governing program and the list of ministers

Designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan is meeting on Friday, at 12:00, with President Nicușor Dan, at Cotroceni Palace, to present him with the government program and the list of cabinet ministers. The discussion is taking place in the context in which the PNL, USR, and UDMR are trying to secure parliamentary support for the future government.

Mureșan must also explain to the president which majority he currently commands. The three parties total 171 senators and deputies, and votes from the national minorities’ group could be added to these. However, the number is not sufficient to invest the government without additional support.

The designated prime minister has ruled out negotiations with AUR, while discussions with the PSD remain uncertain. Mureșan did not attend the meeting proposed by Sorin Grindeanu at the PSD headquarters, and party sources say that the Social Democrats will not vote for the government. The final decision is to be made at the beginning of next week by the Social Democrats.

On Friday, meetings are scheduled at the PNL, USR, and UDMR to validate the program and the list of ministers. Parliamentary hearings could take place on Monday, while the investiture vote is expected on Tuesday.
