Presidential Administration: Nicușor Dan signed the decree appointing Siegfried Mureșan as prime minister

President Nicușor Dan officially designated Siegfried-Vasile Mureșan as candidate for the position of prime minister on Monday, September 21. The decree was signed pursuant to Article 103, paragraph (2) of the Constitution of Romania, which establishes the procedure for forming a new Government.

The Presidential Administration announced that the prime minister-designate must request a vote of confidence from Parliament on the government program and the list of the new cabinet.

Siegfried Mureșan has thus entered the official procedure for forming the Government. He must prepare the government program and the list of ministers, which he will present to Parliament for approval.

The designation took place after the president’s consultations with the parliamentary parties. PNL, USR, and UDMR expressed their support for Mureșan’s candidacy.

The prime minister-designate announced that he intends to present the government program in the first part of the week and subsequently begin discussions with the parliamentary formations. The submission of the program and the cabinet list is planned by the end of the week, while the ministers’ hearings are expected to take place at the beginning of the following week.
