Wednesday, March 18, USR, PNL, and AUR blocked in the budget-finance committees of Parliament the amendments submitted by PSD for the support of vulnerable people, announced Gabriela Firea, PSD MEP. This action generated strong reactions from the social democrats, who stated that the rejection of the amendments will influence PSD's analysis regarding the continuation of participation in the government. Florin Manole, the Minister of Labor, emphasized the importance of these amendments for 2.8 million pensioners and 300,000 children, accusing the three parties of indifference to the needs of Romanians. In contrast, PNL senator Nicoleta Pauliuc called for calm and responsibility in managing the budget, warning against political instability. PSD President Sorin Grindeanu announced that the final decision regarding leaving the government will be made after the budget vote on March 19, emphasizing that the social democrats will act based on the final vote. The political situation in the PSD-PNL-USR-UDMR coalition remains tense, with Grindeanu criticizing Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan for inflexibility and fiscal measures.
