Siegfried Mureșan states that PNL will not support a government dominated by PSD: "Their eyes are gleaming now to squander what Romanians have managed to save."

MEP Siegfried Mureșan stated that PNL will not support a government controlled by PSD, accusing the social democrats of wanting to return to power to squander Romania's recent savings. In an intervention on Digi24, Mureșan emphasized that PNL, UDMR, and USR together have more votes than PSD, but that currently there is no majority of 233 votes necessary for the investment of a government.

“I see that the Social Democratic Party sees that Romania has saved little, and they are now eager to squander what Romanians have managed to save in recent months. So, the situation remains unchanged. The National Liberal Party wants a good government. This is our main objective. PSD wants to return to power to waste. We have an official proposal made together with USR and UDMR. We thank our partners very much for their seriousness,” said Siegfried Mureșan.

He criticized PSD for wanting to control a new government and mentioned that PNL also wants to continue the reforms started by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. Mureșan dismissed speculation about a rift in PNL, stating that all his colleagues will support the party's prime minister proposal. He also emphasized that PSD had previously tried to form a majority without success and that PNL remains committed to responsible governance.
