Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan stated on Sunday, in a Facebook post, that the PNL still does not have the parliamentary majority needed to form a government that would modernize Romania. The reaction comes after the government proposal presented by Luca Niculescu and the PSD, which was criticized by the liberal.
“I know that we are all disappointed by the government proposed by Luca Niculescu and the PSD,” wrote Siegfried Mureșan. He argued that the PNL had proposed a “somewhat better” team, but that the party currently does not have enough votes to impose its own governing program.
On Friday, the MEP criticized the list of ministers proposed by the PSD for the future government. Mureșan stated that, for each ministry the PSD intends to take over, the PNL would have proposed “much better” candidates two weeks earlier.
According to the liberal, the team supported by the PNL could have continued the reforms, reduced budgetary waste, attracted European funds, and modernized the administration. However, the proposals did not obtain the necessary votes in Parliament.
Siegfried Mureșan concluded by saying that the PNL would prepare for the next elections, with the aim of overtaking the PSD and forming a better government as soon as possible.
