PNL MEP Siegfried Mureșan rejected, in a post published on Facebook, the prospect of a joint government between the PNL and PSD, after Sorin Grindeanu made it conditional on Thursday, following the discussion with Luca Niculescu, that the PSD's entry into government would depend on the PNL and UDMR's participation in the parliamentary majority that would support the future cabinet.
“The Social Democrats keep inviting us to join them in government. No, thank you!”, Mureșan wrote.
He accused the PSD of causing the political crisis five months ago, with the support of AUR, and of maintaining the situation in order to protect its party interests and political clientele.
According to the MEP, during the crisis, the PNL took responsibility for governing and tried to resolve the country's problems through the measures adopted by the Bolojan Government. Mureșan claims that the liberals were willing to take on this responsibility again, but that the PSD opposed it.
He described the PNL and PSD as parties that are “in total opposition”, stating that the liberals are seeking to resolve Romania's problems, while the Social Democrats are allegedly seeking the party's survival and the protection of their political clientele.
Mureșan concluded that Romania does not need a government controlled by the PSD, with responsibility transferred to other formations, but rather a team capable of solving the country's urgent problems.
