Liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan criticized PSD for the dismissal of the Government and called on the party to openly assume governance in alliance with AUR, instead of trying to build a majority from the remnants of PNL.
Mureșan emphasized that Romanians are aware of the responsibility of PSD and AUR in the current political crisis.
He stated that PNL will not accept to be complicit in the cancellation of Ilie Bolojan's reforms and questioned why PSD does not use the majority it has with AUR to govern:
“If PSD wants to govern, it already has a majority with AUR to do so, we see daily how it uses this majority in parliament. Why does PSD expect PNL to solve a problem that PSD created? Why doesn’t PSD use the same majority with AUR and has been trying for six months to break PNL to build a majority from the remnants? Why does PSD want to legitimize itself as a pro-European party with PNL's votes?”.
Mureșan's criticisms come after UDMR president, Kelemen Hunor, accused him of disappearing from the public debate during the summer, even though he was PNL's candidate for the position of prime minister. Hunor mentioned that UDMR continues to support Mureșan, but highlighted the lack of efforts on his part to gain the necessary support in Parliament.
