The President of the Senate, Mircea Abrudean, stated that PNL will not support a government that includes PSD, regardless of whether the prime minister is independent or proposed by a party. Abrudean emphasized that PNL's proposal for the position of prime minister is the MEP Siegfried Mureșan, supported by USR and UDMR.

PNL is prepared to go into opposition, emphasizing the need for the rapid formation of a stable government for Romania. He mentioned that there is no information that UDMR might abandon the alliance with PNL and USR, but consultations are necessary to verify if there is a parliamentary majority. Abrudean stated that he will not support a government with PSD, and in the event that PNL parliamentarians would vote for such a government, they would be placed outside the party.
