Mircea Abrudean Announces Good Talks on Forming the New Government

Senate President and Liberal Mircea Abrudean announced on Tuesday that the talks held by designated prime minister Siegfried Mureșan with PNL and USR lawmakers on forming the new government had been “very good.” The meetings took place amid negotiations to establish the governing program and overcome the political crisis.

According to Abrudean, Siegfried Mureșan showed openness to lawmakers’ ideas and proposals and indicated that they could be incorporated into the governing program. The Senate president said that dialogue between the designated prime minister and the parliamentary parties could lead to a realistic program based on clear and applicable measures.

The Liberal stressed that Romania needs stability, reforms and a credible budget for 2027. He warned that, in the current security context, prolonging the political crisis is no longer an option for the country.

Consultations will continue on Wednesday morning at 8:30 a.m., when Siegfried Mureșan is expected to meet with UDMR deputies and senators. Talks with the parliamentary parties represent the negotiating stage for forming the new Cabinet and finalizing the governing program.
