Mircea Abrudean calls for the prime minister to be appointed today / PNL proposes two solutions to unblock the government crisis

Senate President Mircea Abrudean is calling for the appointment of a prime minister as early as Thursday, arguing that Romania can no longer prolong the caretaker government. The statement was made after the consultations at Cotroceni Palace, where the National Liberal Party presented two options for resolving the political crisis.

The first solution proposed by the PNL is the appointment of MEP Siegfried Mureșan as prime minister and the formation of a reformist government together with USR and UDMR. The second option is the establishment of a genuine technocratic government, with a limited mandate and the objective of continuing the reforms.

Mircea Abrudean also mentioned that the future Executive must adopt a “realistic” budget and preserve the results achieved in reducing the deficit. According to him, the liberals’ priorities are modernizing the administration, eliminating privileges and injustices, as well as regaining the confidence of financial markets and European institutions in Romania.

The Liberal insisted that the prime minister must be appointed without delay, as the caretaker government continues and the parties have not yet reached a definitive political formula.
