Mircea Abrudean: Siegfried Mureșan will present the governing program in Parliament on Tuesday / “He will not take a step back”

Senate President Mircea Abrudean announced on Monday that designated Prime Minister Siegfried Mureșan would present the governing program and the directions of the future Executive on Tuesday. The move comes amid a difficult political and economic context, in which Romania still does not have a fully empowered Government.

According to Abrudean, the program will provide for the continuation of the reforms begun by the Bolojan Government, the modernization and streamlining of the state, as well as the reduction of the budget deficit. Parliamentary parties will analyze the document and decide whether or not to support the Government’s investiture.

The Senate President said that Mureșan would not step back and would go before Parliament with the government team and the proposed program, regardless of the positions of the political formations. He specified that the Liberals could discuss with lawmakers from any party to request their support, including individually, without this implying the offering of political benefits.

Abrudean invoked the need for a budget revision and the allocation of funds for healthcare and education. He rejected reports concerning preparations for tax increases and specified that the names of the future ministers had not yet been established.
