Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu criticizes the PSD’s intention to recreate the parliamentary majority alongside the PNL and UDMR, considering that the Social Democrats’ position represents “pure cognitive dissonance.” The reaction comes after Sorin Grindeanu, the PSD president, announced that the party supports the formation of a stable majority and is prepared to assume responsibility for governing.
Gheorghiu recalls that the same PSD contributed, five months ago, to the dismissal of the government in which it was a coalition partner alongside the liberals. She argues that the PNL is no longer the “umbrella party” that the PSD was accustomed to, suggesting that the liberals no longer accept a secondary role in a potential alliance.
Sorin Grindeanu stated that discussions about the country’s future should not be limited to the number of votes needed to approve a government. The PSD leader emphasized that the future majority’s ability to make decisions and implement them fully is also essential. The dispute is taking place in the context of negotiations regarding the governing formula and political stability.
