Interim Deputy Prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, who recently joined PNL, said Thursday evening on Prima News that the liberals’ return to government alongside PSD would be “a major mistake.” She said the party had reaffirmed its decision not to enter such an alliance and described the previous cooperation between PNL and PSD as “unnatural” because of their ideological and outlook differences.
Oana Gheorghiu said that the experience of joint government had not benefited Romania and that the liberals had taken responsibility for the decisions made in the past. In her view, PNL is now trying to contribute to the country’s reconstruction.
The interim deputy prime minister also criticized the attitude of PSD representatives toward the measures adopted by the government led by Ilie Bolojan. She said that, during government meetings, the measures were discussed, negotiated and approved, including by PSD ministers, but were subsequently criticized publicly on television. Gheorghiu said she had observed this behavior after joining the government in November last year, describing the situation as “dystopian.”
