On May 19, Mihai Daraban, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), had a meeting with Vasileios Stavrou, the president of the Hellenic-Romanian Bilateral Chamber of Commerce (HRCC), which was also attended by other officials in the field. The main purpose of the discussions was to open a representation office of the HRCC in Greece. Daraban emphasized the importance of the 8,995 Greek capital companies in Romania, which have a share capital of approximately 2.45 billion euros, highlighting the strong economic relations between the two countries. He also mentioned the need to identify alternatives to traditional maritime routes, considering Greece's role in global maritime transport. Stavrou added that the HRCC brings together over 800 companies with an estimated turnover of 4 billion euros, confirming the potential for economic cooperation. Finally, the Balkan Outward & Regional Cooperation Strategic Forum, scheduled for May 25, 2026, was mentioned, for which the CCIR will provide support for extensive participation.
