Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, stated that Romania and India have built a partnership based on "trust and democratic values" over more than 70 years of diplomatic relations.

She emphasized that Romania is an "important destination for investments and a gateway to the European market." Droupadi Murmu mentioned the future free trade agreement between India and the European Union, which will create significant economic opportunities, considering the size of the two markets.

Although trade between Romania and India has increased, it remains below its real potential, and the president identified areas such as artificial intelligence, telecommunications, and clean energy as priorities for collaboration. Murmu also presented the "Viksit Bharat 2047" strategy, which aims to transform India into a developed nation, highlighting opportunities in the field of nuclear energy and energy transition.

In conclusion, she expressed confidence that Romanian-Indian economic relations will thrive through sustainable investments and trade partnerships.

The state visit of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, to Romania, taking place from July 23-25, is the first visit of an Indian head of state to Bucharest in over three decades and is part of a European tour that also included Moldova and North Macedonia.
