CCIR is preparing the Romania-Pakistan Business Forum amid interest in new investments and trade exchanges

President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania (CCIR), Mihai Daraban, met on September 24, 2026, with Pakistan’s ambassador to Romania, Ilyas Mehmood Nizami, to prepare the Romania-Pakistan Business Forum. The event will take place on October 6 in Bucharest, with the participation of a delegation of Pakistani businesspeople.

CCIR says the forum is built on a solid foundation, given that 761 companies with Pakistani capital are already operating in Romania. The chamber has cooperation agreements with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Reciprocal economic missions have contributed to bringing the business communities of the two countries closer together.

Mihai Daraban said that Romania could become a hub for Pakistani companies interested in access to the European Union’s single market. The distance between the ports of Constanța and Karachi is approximately 4,600 nautical miles, equivalent to around 15 days of sailing, an argument considered relevant to the development of joint projects.

Ambassador Ilyas Mehmood Nizami said that the current level of trade does not reflect the potential of the two economies. In the diplomat’s view, the complementary industries of Romania and Pakistan offer opportunities to expand cooperation and increase bilateral trade.
