Bucharest General Mayor Ciprian Ciucu met with India’s ambassador to Romania, Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, at Bucharest City Hall. The discussions focused on a proposal for an official twinning partnership between Bucharest and Agra, one of India’s best-known historical and tourist centers, home to the Taj Mahal.
The meeting took place amid strengthening relations between Romania and India, with the main development being the possibility of direct cooperation between the two cities. Such a partnership could encourage cultural, tourism and administrative exchanges, as well as the development of joint projects.
Ambassador Manoj Kumar Mohapatra said that India wants to remain a close and trusted partner of Romania. He said that cooperation between Bucharest and Agra could bring mutual benefits.
Ciprian Ciucu thanked the Indian diplomat for his interest in the capital and said that Bucharest would be honored to cooperate with India, a country he said has developed significantly in recent years. The proposal is to be reviewed by the authorities of the two cities.
